Urban Edibles

We are transforming cities by incorporating native edible plants for all. Our selection focuses on low-maintenance, hardy plants that yield food for many years. We place a high priority on native plant species above all else, ensuring that we live in harmony with the ecosystem.

Nourishing Urban Spaces

With the rise of interest in urban green spaces, there has been an increase in the planting of invasive species. Most of these plants in urban areas are purely cosmetic and contribute little to the ecosystem. One of our top enemies is the Bradford Pear tree, an invasive species sold as being sterile- but can cross-pollinate with actual fruit-producing pear trees.

According to the CDC, 32% of kids 1–5 years of age did not eat a daily fruit, and 49% did not eat a daily vegetable in the preceding week. Only 7% of U.S. high school students met the federal fruit-intake recommendation, and just 2.0% met the vegetable-intake recommendation. Native Harvest exists to change that. By planting fruit trees and native crops in the heart of our cities, we are giving every child a chance to reach for something real, fresh, and alive.
